John Agnello has provided outcome-oriented, budget-conscious advice and counseling to a wide variety of clients throughout his career. John has extensive experience representing clients in complex commercial litigation involving environmental laws/regulations, insurance law, insurance coverage, ERISA and related regulations, business torts, labor and employment law, construction and surety law, shareholder disputes, and other high-stakes issues. He has won multimillion-dollar judgments in jury and bench trials and successfully argued appeals in both federal and state courts.
John is a problem solver with over 35 years of experience, focusing on clients’ short-term and long-term interests and goals. John creatively marshals the facts, the law, and the process to achieve client-protective solutions and outcomes.
John’s clients include multi-national Fortune 100 and 500 companies, as well as an assortment of publicly and privately held industrial, manufacturing, and distribution companies, ERISA, pension and welfare funds, and municipal government entities.
A member of the firm’s Executive Committee, John served as a Trustee of the National Retirement Fund (a $2 Billion Taft-Hartley pension fund) and its predecessors from 1990 through 2018. He has also served as a member of the District of New Jersey Federal Magistrate Merit Selection Panel and as a guest lecturer at Seton Hall Law School. John has been appointed as a Receiver in complex cases by both federal and state courts.
